Welcome
Child Contact

WHAT IS A CHILD CONTACT CENTRE?
A Child Contact Centre is a safe, neutral environment
where children can meet parents or extended family
members whom they no longer live with.

HOW THE CENTRE WORKS.
Before contact begins parents will each attend a information meeting with a member of staff.  This meeting will provide an opportunity for staff and parents to :

  • Meet together
  • Exchange information on the needs of children and other family members
  • Discuss any fears or anxieties

Both parents/guardians will be required to sign a parental agreement.  In addition the centre can be used as a handover point.

What the parents do
  • The non resident parent must arrive at the contact centre no later than 9.45
  • The resident parent will bring the child/ren to the contact centre for 10.00am
  • Parents are responsible for supervising their children whilst at the contact centre.
  • The resident parent to arrive at centre no earlier than 12.00 noon to collect child/ren
  • The non resident parent will be required to remain at contact centre at least 5 minutes after the child/ren have been collected.

Confidentiality

The Centre does not make any written or verbal reports to referring agencies about contact apart from the dates and times of attendance (unless referred by Children Court Service).  The only exception to this is if we believe that the child is at risk, or a member of staff, or volunteer or centre user is at risk or harm.  Contact Centre users are also requested to respect the confidentiality of other Service Users.
