The person bringing the child/ren must wait until the other adult has arrived. They can leave or stay in a separate room in the centre until the child/ren have finished their visit. The adults do not have to meet if that is their preference. The centre can be used as a handover point if the visit is to take place outside. Parents are asked to abide by some basic ground rules. CONTACT CENTRE GUIDELINES
Cloona Child Contact Centre provides a neutral meeting place where children of separated families can enjoy contact with one or both parents (and sometimes other family members) in a comfortable and safe environment. Staff at the centre are always available to help, they are impartial and respect confidentiality.
We Provide:
• A place where children’s interest’s always come first • A conflict free, child focused place where there will be no arguments or family rows • An environment which is child centred • A warm and comfortable atmosphere for parents and children • A safe, caring environment where a parent with whom the child lives, can leave a child with confidence. • Time for the children to relax and enjoy the company of their non-resident parent or other family member(s). • Comfortable rooms with plenty of toys
We are open from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm on Wednesday and 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on Saturday.
What are the Rules?
• Arrangements for bringing the children to and from the Centre are the responsibility of the parents/guardians. • While at the Centre the children must be under the supervision and control of a parent/guardian at all times to ensure their safety. • The contact will be within the Centre only. (The garden is included, as part of the Centre but you must stay in view of the front door.) • The Centre is a no smoking area. • If a client turns up at the Centre under the influence of drink or drugs they will be asked to leave. • Clients using the Centre are expected not to cause any disturbance that would upset others. • Clients should be on time at the beginning and end of each session to avoid upsetting the children. • I understand that my contact with the Centre is confidential unless issues arise relating to child abuse or a serious crime, which by law must be passed on to the proper authorities. • I understand that all Centre Staff and Volunteers maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times • I understand that use of the Contact Centre is not a long-term solution to problems with contact. Use of the Centre will be reviewed regularly. • I understand the importance of notifying the Centre if I cannot attend or arrangements for contact have changed.
Due to lack of space it is not possible for the person bringing the child(ren) to the centre to have anyone else waiting with them, unless by prior engagement.
Any change to the above conditions may be negotiated by contacting the centre.
